**Why buy an antique desk**

I always keep a selection of items in stock, and one of my staples is antique desks. While I primarily focus on Victorian and Edwardian desks, I occasionally have pieces from other periods, including mid-century designs. In today's world, where many of us use computers and require less paper storage, a nice desk with a couple of drawers is a great addition to any home. If you're still on the fence about purchasing one, here are a few compelling reasons to consider:

**Durability**: Unlike contemporary flat-pack furniture, antique desks are built to last. The average lifespan of modern furniture is around 15 years, whereas an antique desk has typically endured at least a hundred years of use, proving it can easily last another hundred or more.

**Quality**: Antique desks date back to before the 1920s, a time when furniture was crafted by hand. In contrast, modern desks are often mass-produced from lower-quality woods. Many traditional woods are now endangered and can no longer be harvested for use in new furniture.

**Uniqueness**: Each traditional antique desk is a one-of-a-kind piece, handcrafted by skilled artisans. Choosing an antique desk means you’ll own a unique item that reflects your individual style and taste, distinguishing your space from those using mass-produced furniture.

**Investment**: Although the value of antique desks, like all antiques, can fluctuate due to changing fashion trends, there will always be a demand for quality pieces. An antique desk will not only hold its value but is likely to increase in value over time. These factors make antique desks a worthwhile investment for both functionality and style.
